Five Things to Know About Mint on the Avenue

September 28, 2017 · Mint on the Avenue · 3 min read

Perhaps you noticed the new signage on your walk down Park Avenue. Perhaps a friend mentioned it over coffee near the Farmers Market. Or perhaps this is the first you are hearing of it. Either way, here is what is happening at Mint on the Avenue — and what it means for you.

A New Website and a Reimagined Brand

One of the first orders of business under new ownership was building a website that genuinely serves guests — not just one that exists. Working with a marketing agency, the team created a site with online booking, gift card shopping, an updated service menu, and offers worth returning for.

The branding followed. The goal was a fresh direction that did not erase the salon’s 34-year history on Park Avenue. The updated logo carries that history forward — rooted, but clearly looking ahead.

New Ownership

Mark and Marisa Evans knew early that they had found something worth investing in. Marisa brings a decade of professional color experience to the chair — five of those years spent building her practice here at Mint. As a Master Colorist, she has the kind of accumulated knowledge that only comes from years of deliberate work: understanding how light moves through a strand, how a formula ages, how a guest’s life and hair evolve together. Her vision for the salon is straightforward — a place where craft is taken seriously and shared generously with the next generation of stylists and guests.

Mark approaches the salon from a different angle. As an entrepreneur with a background in operations and front-of-house management, he keeps the business running with the same care Marisa brings to the color bowl. Together, they are focused on building something that honors this address and serves this community well.

A Commitment to the Community

Styling hair is Marisa’s first love — but it runs alongside a long-standing commitment to service. The Evans family envisions Mint on the Avenue becoming both a gathering place and an incubator for stylists who want to use their skills to give back. The salon is closed on Mondays so the team can pursue the philanthropic causes that matter to them.

Seriously Talented Stylists

Many of the stylists who built their careers at this address are staying on through the transition. Their experience, their institutional knowledge, and their appreciation for the salon’s history are not things that can be replicated — and they will be central to training the next generation of stylists joining the team.

Continuing education is a standing priority. The goal is a team that can execute a precise classic cut and a forward-looking color trend with equal confidence. That work is supported by Aveda products and service standards — a partnership the salon is proud of. Aveda’s commitment to cruelty-free, responsibly sourced formulations aligns with the values Mint on the Avenue holds for its guests, its team, and the broader community.

A Place Where You Are Welcome

Technical mastery matters here. So does the way you feel when you walk in — not just after the cut, but during the whole visit. Loving your hair should not be a privilege. Mint on the Avenue is open to everyone — regardless of religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background — and offers services at a range of price points so that something here fits your life.
